Agricultural Education

The Ag in the Classroom program is an important program directed by the Wisconsin Farm Bureau Federation. It is mainly funded by an annual grant from the Wisconsin Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection, and supported by the WFB Foundation and other agricultural groups.

The Ag in the Classroom program equips teachers and county volunteers with training and resources to increase the understanding of our food system among our youth. In 2007, the Ag in the Classroom program:

• Presented its second “Outstanding Teacher of the Year” award.

• Provided grants to local Ag in the Classroom programs.

• Had more than 1,000 students participate in essay contest.

Agricultural education is also a national priority of the Farm Bureau. The WFB Foundation made a contribution to the American Farm Bureau Foundation for Agriculture to support the Farm Bureau-sponsored "Innoventions" display at Epcot® at the Walt Disney World Resort in Florida. The exhibit features a variety of activities that personalize issues like population growth, the potential for biotechnology to improve our environment and our health, and provides a hands-on experience with live insects and plants.
